There is a new trend in the library
In the last 8 months, Amazon.com boxes with pregnancy books for parents-to-be appeared at a rate of about once a week. Then, after Colette got bored with those, we graduated to midwifery books. This trend, by the way, did not make me (nor Colette) happy, because these books focus on all that can go wrong. At some point I had to forbid Colette from reading sad stories and terrible descriptions of problems. But in any case, we survived so far.
NOW, there is a completely new trend, and not an unwelcome one! In recent days, the boxes showed clear tendencies to include baby-care books. From the conservative, traditional Dr. Spock book, to the conventional, but rebel How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor by Dr. Mendelsohn - all the way to the hocus pocus of Naturally Healthy Babies and Children: A Commonsense Guide to Herbal Remedies, Nutrition, and Health
This is a trend worth blogging.
Oh... on Wednesday we have an appointment with a pediatrician, as we need to get one before the baby is born.

AT LAST!!!!! We have a stroller. We could not fina a perfect one, but this is as close as it got. What we wanted, is one that (1) is high enough so that Yori can use it too (2) can change directions (3) can have the baby completely flat (4) have a car seat adaptor (so we can get orez from the car to the stroller without waking him(?) up. === we got almost all of it - except the changing direction handle. Also, its big, cumbersome and heavy. But it rides great! we will be very smart for orez2, I am sure.

A statistical question
1. Let's say that our midwife has 4 clients a month (i.e. 4 births a month)
2. Let's say that the due dates are uniformly distributed over the month (i.e roughly one due date a week)
3. Let's say that the distribution of actual births around the formal due date is .... I do not really know, but you can click here or here
4. Let's say that the length of "a birth" (from the moment the midwife shows up) is 8 hours
THEN
what is the probability that our midwife will have two active births at the same time exactly?
hmmmmm

Well... still no stroller in sight
So, it is Monday and there is no stroller.
There is a "co-sleeper" though - an annex to a bed and our home birthing kit is on its way.
If you want to see a picture of our midwife, click here - look for Beah Haber.

It's Sunday again
We are having a big smoothie this morning made out of oranges, strawberries, bananas, apples etc. Then we are going, once and for all, buy a stroller.

So again we did not buy yet a stroller and a car seat
We spend more time looking for strollers than we spent buying cars. So many brands, prices and you know what - even the most expensive ones, when you touch them they feel cheap.
We are narrowing it down to few models, though. We got some tips form others as to what's important and what is less.
Now we go to the home birth class. talk to you later.
